Picking up and transport options for your Sugar Lane White Lab puppy

Patsy Lewis

We're fortunate to have had our Sugar Lane White Lab puppies welcomed into many homes all across the United States from coast to coast.

A majority of our puppies go to homes out of state. I get asked often by families for options for picking up their puppies - as for many families it is the first time purchasing a puppy from such a long distance.

We love to have families pick up their puppies from our home. We've had many families make a trip of it driving all the way from the West Coast or East Coast. However, due to our rural location in North Dakota, for many families it isn't always the most optional to drive or to fly into North Dakota, rent a car, and drive the 3-4 hours to our home from the major airports.

We like to try to make transition for our families as easy as possible and are more than willing to work with various options on picking up your puppy.

Most families fly into any North Dakota airport and we meet them there with their puppy and they fly with their puppy back carry on in a soft sided carrier. The puppy rides in cabin with their new family. We are willing to accomodate the families by meeting them at whichever North Dakota airport they can get the best connections and flights from. We've left many a time in the middle of the night to meet families with early flights out. The puppy needs to be below 20 pounds for carry on, which our puppies generally are up to 10-11 weeks old. We do not charge extra for this service - it is just part of what we do.

For families that aren't located several states away many choose to drive. We are also willing to help cut several hours off the driving trip by meeting families within 5 hours drive of our home (or approximately 350 miles from our place.) It cuts 10 or more hours driving off the families trip. We've met many families from Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, Michigan, Washington and even New Jersey and Pennsylvania this way. Again for this service we do not charge any extra added on fees. That's just not how we do it at Sugar Lane White Labs. Call it North Dakota friendly if you will.

Another service that we have recently added the last few years and has become a popular option is connecting families with our professional flight nanny. For this option we put the families in contact with our flight nanny. We again meet the flight nanny at the airport whereas they fly with your puppy as carry on and meet you at your nearest major airport. There is a flight nanny fee for this service, which varies according to location and ticket prices at the time. The fees for this usually run around approximately $800-1000. We, however, charge no extra fee for dropping the puppy off with the flight nanny.

The above options are the most utilized in bringing your new puppy home. For puppies that may be older and above the 20 pound weight for carry on we have had a few hire ground transport. There are fees for this option as it is hiring another pet transport. We, however, are willing to again transport the puppy part way to help cut down on the fees charged as fees for this generally are by mileage.

We here at Sugar Lane White Labs simply want to make transition of getting your new puppy to you as easy and smoothly as possible. Please reach out to us with any questions you might have on best options for transport of your new Sugar Lane Lab puppy. We'd love to discuss the best way to help get your new little furbaby to your home.
